Derrick was born in a family of three with both the father and mother being HIV positive. While Derrick was still very young, their mother abandoned them when she found out she was positive and the father continues to try to care for the family on his own. Derrick is a very clever boy who loves to pursue his studies. He is very ambitious for a better future and hopes nothing can stop him from achieving his future. He prays for a sponsor to help him and his family. His dream is to be a doctor.
